Be able to use materials, techniques and processes

Here is some images of the park, these are'nt my images because I was ill on that day.

This is an image I put together using the images of the park using photoshop. took me around half an hour using various selection tools, hue and saturation.

I think the attention to detail in this image is incredible, I really like how he has focused on the eye closest and made everything else seem blurry. The matierials used here i would say is a rubber, pencil, grafite. he would probably of started by puttign down a basic shade with some basic outlines, then slowly make his way around the drawing.

This is an image that has been produced on photoshop, but painted from scratch using the brush tool. The artist that drew this is called Nico Di Mattia, he made this image for pixar for promotion of there new film. The process he would've done to make this image would be to start with a sketch of a rough idea on a separate layer maybe above everything so he can turn it on off to reveal it. The tools used would be a brush tool with low opacities and maybe some pen pressure settings enabled. The smudge tool may be used in several places along with the mixer brush. I think the attension to detail in the image is amazing if you compare it with actual images from the film, the characters look identical.

For my own choice of work I've chosen a game that's just been released called 'battlefield 3'. The reason I chose this is because I think the game is visually amazing, the attention to detail in the game is incredible. As you can see in this screenshot of the trailer (which is actual footage) that the character on the left is being made the target of the image. You can see this because the game is using depth of field for the things in the background and then motion blur on his hand as he moves it.

Here is a good example of the lighting used in the game, as you can see the lighting on the left from the sign is displaying a reflection on the floor where your running, which also shows that there is water on the floor. The lights from the buildings in the background are also reflecting on the ground. The producers of the game had to make the game seem real, and to do that you've got make it look real.

Here is an image I painted in photoshop. It took around 5 - 6 hours to complete. The tools I used to make this were: the brush tool, with different opacties and pen pressures, mixer brush, smudge tool, eraser, dodge and burn, gaussian blur and at serveral stages I made my own brushes. While I was painting this image I was screen recording it at the same time, which now I have speeded it up and put it on youtube, the link is below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OR32Ut_rwHs The video did'nt come out very well and I'm not sure why, the recordings came out fine, but I think when I put them together and edited them something went wrong.
